The Russian population came out to vote so that Vladimir Putin can extend his mandate until 2036.
The President of Russia had been watching the Kremlin head for another little while, so it occurred to him to change the Constitution so that he could reelect two other terms and be in power until 2036. Others? Remember that Vladimir has been at the forefront of the Russian political scene for 20 years, and his current term would end in 2024. A few months ago, Parliament gave him a chance to make amendments to the Constitution, but the president wanted to have the support of the people, so he set up a consultation to give legitimacy to the process.
