That money is not yours

Something like this was said by the British High Court to Nicolás Maduro when rejecting his request to withdraw Venezuelan reserves from the Bank of England.

Nicolás Maduro's government had asked the Bank of England to give him access to Venezuela's gold reserves, estimated at around 887 million euros.

The idea was to use that money to buy medical supplies, but the bank refused to give it to him, arguing that the United Kingdom recognizes Juan Guaidó as legitimate president so it can only be given to him. The issue grew so large that it came to trial and finally yesterday, the Supreme Court of England agreed with the bank.

And what did Maduro say? His lawyer argued that the British could not do that because diplomatic relations between the two countries continue to be through the Maduro administration, but even that did not save him.
