Today 4th of July in 1776, the declaration of independence was signed.

Today in 1776, the United States Declaration of Independence was signed. The growing British empire had to accept defeat but that did not stop it from colonizing the rest of the world. The 13 colonies claimed British independence for the large amount of taxes that the British were putting on the Americans of the colonies.
